Funny Story

We all have stories from our childhood that get brought up over & over when we reach adulthood. Well, Connolly will have a doozy, thanks to the events of August 14th, 2008.

I got a phone call from Lynn at work on Thursday morning, letting me know that there had been a 'scare' at the house. Without panicking, I listened as she told me what happened.

Lynn, Kaitlyn, Keegan, Josh & Connolly were playing outside when Connolly needed to go the bathroom. She brought him inside, put him on the toilet and told him to come outside to everyone when he was finished and she would put his underpants back on. Underpants in hand, Lynn went back outside.

Connolly proceeded to 'do his business' and then decided he didn't want to go outside anymore, so he locked the back door. He knows how to unlock the door, both locks too, but for almost half an hour, Lynn tried to get him to unlock the back door, then the front door, then the side garage door. To no avail.

So, with the others in tow, Lynn went to our neighbours to call my parents, but not remembering the phone number off hand, she called 411. Unfortunately, the operator could not find my parents number, so Lynn had no choice but to request that the operator call 911. Within 5 minutes, the police and the fire department were outside our house, setting up a ladder and climbing in one of our upstairs windows...which we had thankfully left open for some reason or another.

Connolly was getting a little upset, waiting in the garage, thinking that his brothers, Kaitlyn and Lynn were outside having fun without and he couldn't get to them. He then found himself upset and embarrassed when a police officer looked through the window to see him standing there with only a t-shirt on. The highlight of Connolly's day was having a police officer put a new pair of underpants on!! LOL He was quite excited to tell me all about that part of the adventure when I got home from work.

No harm done. A bit scary for all involved, but Lynn did everything she should have and it all ended well and with smiles & laughs all around. Let's just hope the excitement of having a police car and a fire truck arriving at our house don't give the boys the idea that they should do things like that more often!! :o)
